Welcome to MusicVideoJam. After growing a collection of music video clips on my hard drive, I decided to start “saving” my favorite music videos online by simply blogging about them, and in the process share them with the world. That was February of 2010. Hundreds of posts later, Music Video Jam has a quality selection of clips with more added regularly.

I admit to being biased in my musical selection. I generally go for electronic music, hip-hop and rock, with occasional exceptions. I have my tastes, and I hope that others can appreciate them. Generally, I look for videos that successfully combine their audio and visual parts to a synergistic result. Most music videos have either great songs and ok videos, or ok songs and great videos. But sometimes the directors and creative forces behind the videos manage to match their visual art to the rhythm and mood of a song so perfectly that the video becomes more than the sum it’s audio and visual parts and becomes an entity unto itself. It is then that the Music Video stands alone, no longer as a promotional tool or afterthought, but as art.

Using the website is pretty straightforward. Don’t miss the rating system under each video, where you can vote videos up or down depending on whether you like them or not. Use it! You don’t even have to sign up or log-in and the website will not bite you. The top rated videos from these votes are then displayed on the upper right of the website. The videos stay in this box for only 30 days, so it’s always fresh. Also, there’s a Top 100 list that lists the top 100 videos as voted by you, the users. At the end of the year, the list will be “frozen”, achived and a new list will be started for the next year.

Please feel free to drop comments on this page with your thoughts, gripes, praises, website suggestions and questions. If you want to suggest a video, please don’t post them here. Instead, use the “Suggest a Music Video” box on the sidebar. Just paste in the video URL (http://www.youtubeorwhatever..) in the little box, type in the “capcha” letters and numbers you see under “verify humanity” and click Submit.

Enjoy!
